Around the beginning of every Spring semester, the Broken Ink staff convenes to determine which submissions will be published in the magazine. The submissions are divided into 3 categories: literature, visual arts, and audio, and are reviewed blindly by a panel of both staff members and outside students. The works are rated on a scale from 1 to 5 based on a series of criteria specific to the category of each submission. The pieces with the highest average ratings are accepted into the magazine.
*Due to space constraints, the Broken Ink staff must occasionally determine between two or more equally deserving works. The editors will resolve these conflicts based on the current publication’s concept or “voice” and Broken Ink’s mission to represent a wide variety of student work.*
Rating day for both literary and visual works will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th.
Rating day for audio works, such as music and spoken word, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13th.
If you are interested in participating in either of these events, please make sure to arrive in the Palmetto Conference Room at the set times.
